If you need to change media, media group, and page size, you need to use [Print Setup] tab before printing a swatch.

1. Click the gear ( ) button in the [Current MediaA paper or other substrate that the printer creates images on. and Page Size] section to open the Change Media and Size dialog (Figure 1).
2. Set a [Media Group], [Media], and [Page Size] (Figure 2).
3. Select a desired [Print ModeA Print Mode is an individual characterization of Ink, Media and Printer Settings. Print Modes can have any number of variables, intended for different output targets. Some examples of multiple print modes for the same media are: High Speed, Production, High Quality, and Ink Saving Modes. Print modes allow for multiple output conditions on the same material.] in [ColorCheck status for the selected Media] section. The current ColorCheck status of each mode is listed.
4. Click the [Print ColorCheck…] button. This opens the Print ColorCheck SwatchStandard print image used by RIP-Queue for profile generation. A swatch contains multiple patches. dialog (Figure 2).
5. Set up a color device to measure the printed ColorCheck swatch. (NOTE: You need to be careful when setting up color device options, such as measurement conditions. These options affect the measured color values of ColorCheck patches. You should use the same color device options each time when you print a ColorCheck swatch. You can setup color device options by clicking the ( ) button.
6. Select the ColorCheck swatch that you want to print. (NOTE: All ColorCheck swatches are listed, which includes default swatches (ONYX Weekly Baseline, PANTONE Coated, and PANTONE Uncoated).
7. In the Print ColorCheck Swatch dialog, you can select specific printer information by selecting [Mode], and [Quick SetA group of settings that is applied to images to create jobs in an efficient manner.]. You also can set up printed layout options such as Page Size, Copies, Orientation, Label, etc.
8. Click the [Print] button at the bottom to send the selected ColorCheck swatch to RIP-Queue.
9. In RIP-Queue, the swatch job’s status will be Waiting to Print if the print setup is appropriate. Then click the [Print Now] button to print the ColorCheck swatch job.

To print ColoCheck swatch from the [ColoCheck] tab:

 

1. Go to the [ColorCheck] tab in RIP-Queue (Figure 3).
2. Click the [Print ColorCheck…] button. This opens the Print Colorcheck Swatch dialog (Figure 4).
3. Select your color device to measure the printed ColorCheck swatch. (NOTE: You need to be careful when setting up color device options, such as measurement conditions. These options affect measured color values of ColorCheck patches. You should use the same color device options each time when you print a ColorCheck swatch. You can setup color device options by clicking the ( ) button.
4. Select the ColorCheck swatch that you want to print. (NOTE: All the ColorCheck swatches are listed, which includes default swatches (ONYX Weekly Baseline, PANTONE Coated, and PANTONE Uncoated).
5. In the Print ColorCheck Swatch dialog, you can select specific printer information by selecting [Mode], and [Quick Set]. You also can setup printing layout options such as Page Size, Copies, Orientation, Label, etc.
6. Click the [Print] button at the bottom to send the selected ColorCheck swatch to RIP-Queue.
7. In RIP-Queue, the swatch job’s status will be waiting to Print if the print setup is appropriate. Then click the [Print Now] button for printing the ColorCheck swatch job.

 

NOTE: It is recommended choose [ONYX Weekly Baseline] as a first step. It will help you to determine going forward if there are issue with printing consistency.

In this step, you measure the colors of the printed ColorCheck swatch with the color device specified when printing the swatch. After you print a ColorCheck swatch, the status of the swatch job will be Waiting to Measure in RIP-Queue.

 

1. You can start measuring by clicking the Measure Swatch ( ) icon to the left, or right-clicking the ColorCheck job and selecting [Measure Swatch], or double-clicking on the swatch job and clicking the [Measure...] button (Figure 5).
2. The Read Swatch dialog (Figure 6) should pop up automatically. If not, you can click the [Measure...] button to start measurering the ColorCheck swatch.
3. Follow the instructions in the Read Swatch dialog for your particular device to obtain the measured color.

After measuring the ColorCheck swatch, the Verification Results dialog displays automatically. The top of the verification Results dialog displays the printer information (printer, media and mode).Then, the Pass/Fail status of the test, ColorCheck swatch name, ColorCheck environment, and verification expiration date.

 

The main section displays the results of the verification tests, which depend on the options and tests configured for the ColorCheck swatch.You can view or export the color readings by clicking the [View measurements...] button.

 

You can export a more detailed HTML report by clicking the [Report...] button (Figure 7).

 

To export the HTML report, click the [Report…] button in the Verification Results dialog (Figure 8). The HTML report is very similar to the Verification Results, except that extra information such as patch information is included. The patch information can include patch ID, expected CIELAB values, measured CIELAB values, and color difference in CIEDE2000. You can hide or expand the patch information by clicking the arrow at the left. You can also resort columns that have arrows in the headers. This is useful to identify the best and worst ΔE (DeltaE) measurements.

 

TIP 1: ColorCheck swatch jobs coexist with other jobs in RIP-Queue. They can be nested and printed with other print jobs with similar print settings. However, after they are printed, they will remain in the queue with a Waiting to Measure status. Once measured, they move to the buffered job area with a status appropriate to the results of validation or verification.

 

TIP 2: JobAn image coupled with RIP-Queue settings. properties for a swatch job can be accessed by either double clicking on the job, clicking on the Job Properties icon ( ) on the left of RIP-Queue or selecting the job, right clicking and selecting [Job Properties].

 

TIP 3: The [Report/Verification Status] selection in the Job Properties dialog for a swatch job displays the results of the swatch report/verification (if performed) and a preview of the swatch. Before a swatch job is printed the [Report…] and [Measure...] buttons are disabled.

 

TIP 4:The [Info] section of the Job Properties dialog for a swatch job shows information about the swatch job and allows [Notes] to be associated with the job. Any changes to the notes will be shown in the HTML report after they are changed.

The ColorCheck Report button ( ) in the [ColorCheck] tab allows you to view the ColorCheck report for the currently nested mode. It is only available if there is a Colorcheck mode status . It only reports the mode status (Figure 8).

 

This button only appears for print modes with a ColorCheck validation, since ColorCheck reports are not saved as part of the print mode.
